Vernis Epifanes Blank 150ml
with extra UV filter protection
Fast-drying, wear-resistant one-component interior varnish
Classic yacht varnish with extra UV filter
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Epifanes Boat Varnish Blank is a classic one-component yacht varnish with extra UV filter.
Offers pleasant processing with optimum flow.
Has a high solids content, a particularly high convex gloss,
a very long-lasting gloss retention and is weather and water resistant.
The built-in extra ultraviolet filter protects the wood
optimally against discolouration by sunlight.
This varnish stands out due to its particularly high elasticity,
which prevents the varnish from cracking on working wood.
Area of application: For new work on
solid bare wood (e.g. meranti, mahogany,
oregon pine) and plywood inside and
outside above the waterline. Also for
maintenance of existing, intact one- and
two-component varnish systems regardless of
the brand. Not suitable for direct application on epoxy resin.

Recommended layer thickness (Advice 4 to 6 layers) 60 - 70 μm wet = 30 - 35 μm dry
Thinner brush: Epifanes Paint Thinner or good quality turpentine

Thinning in general: The amount of thinner is partly
dependent on the temperature of the product
and the environment. Avoid over-thinning. See system structure for percentages.
Drying times Dust dry:
+10°C.= 5 hours
+15°C.= 4 hours
+20°C.= 3 hours
+25°C.= 2 hours
Drying times Dust dry:
+10°C.= 40 hours
+15°C.= 30 hours
+20°C.= 24 hours
+25°C.= 20 hours
Drying times Sandable:
+10°C.= 40 hours
+15°C.= 30 hours
+20°C.= 24 hours
+25°C.= 20 hours
The above drying times are indicative at 65% RLV and 30 μm
dry layer thickness. Drying also depends on ventilation and
applied wet layer thickness. Higher wet layer thickness will
lead to longer drying times. Horizontal surfaces in particular may
need more time to dry. Allow each layer to dry thoroughly. Do not apply wet-on-wet.
Substrate Bare wood: degreased and P220 sanded,
Dilute the first coat of lacquer by 40-50% for maximum impregnation in the wood grain.
Existing lacquer: degreased and P240 sanded.
Always dilute the first coat of lacquer by 10% for better impregnation.
PROCESSING/PROCESSING ENVIRONMENT:
Processing environment: Temperature minimum 8°C - maximum 30°C.
Relative humidity minimum 50% - maximum 85%
Best results with this product are achieved with a long-haired, soft
brush or air sprayer. Due to the required layer thickness,
application with a roller is not recommended. Always work in the direction of the
wood grain and ensure that sufficient layer thickness is applied.
Do not apply this product wet-on-wet and avoid higher layer thicknesses
than advised to prevent sagging and problems with drying
. Ensure sufficient ventilation during the
processing and drying of this product.
Avoid processing in full sun or in wind.
Under these conditions, (too) rapid evaporation of
the solvent occurs, which can prevent the varnish from flowing properly.
The temperature of the varnish, the surface
and the environment must not differ too much from each other.
If the varnish “pulls”, up to 10% thinner can be added.
To colour discoloured wood, up to 10% Epifanes
Mahogany and/or Teak stain can be added to the varnish.
After drying, lightly sand each layer of varnish with P400 wet or Scotch Brite.
Sand only in the direction of the grain. Guidelines for application with the air spray
SYSTEM STRUCTURE
More coats are recommended for longer gloss retention.
Theoretical yield: Practical yield
14m² per litre @ 35 μm dry layer thickness
The yield depends on the application method,
conditions during application, quality of the substrate
and the shape of the object, etc.
Can be painted over
