Applications
Merfocell GW has been specially developed
for use as a decorative sound absorber
foam in engine rooms
of yachts that must bear the CE mark.
Sound absorption
25mm: NRC 0.25; αw 0.25
NRC and αw values of other thicknesses
on request.
The sound absorption is shown in the graph.
The sound absorption values are measured according to EN 354
: 2003.
Fire classification
Flame-retardant according to:

Composition
Merfocell GW is a sound-absorbing
polyurethane foam with open
cells, provided with a top layer of
impregnated glass fiber cloth, which
the foam protects against penetration
of moisture and oil. The top layer is
fireproof and decorative and such
strong, that it is a good protection

Resistance to liquids
The foam is resistant to water, oil,
and many solvents and cleaning agents.
Temperature resistance
The foam and the adhesive layer are
withstands temperatures of -40 °C
up to +100 °C.
Thermal insulation
Coefficient of thermal conductivity: 130J / mh °C.
Processing
- Easy to size and shape
cutting with scissors or band saw,
without special tools.
- Easy to apply on curved surfaces.
- Dry the surfaces to be coated,
make dust and grease free.
- The self-adhesive layer adheres very well
on both painted and unpainted
(smooth) surface. The bonding force
of the adhesive layer deteriorates if the foam is
soaked with water or fuel.
After drying, the bonding strength can be
recover.
- Edges and seams can be finished with Merfocell GW tape
Self-adhesive version:
- Press well to avoid air inclusions.
- Do not use on surfaces that become warmer than 70 °C (due to self-adhesive).
- Do not use at temperatures below 15 °C (due to self-adhesive).
- Prime porous or rough surfaces with Select AAC contact adhesive.
